Tents on

The Went

CAMPFIRES & CANVAS

"Camping is a timeless way to disconnect from tech and reconnect with nature and loved ones."

Thank you for visiting our page. After much consideration we have decided to open up our smallholding for a limited number of like-minded campers. We are avid wild campers but realise the remotest of reaches isn’t for everybody, and therefore are offering our secluded and basic, yet stunningly beautiful environment for you to pitch your tent at.

We are acutely aware of the benefit from switching off from tech and reconnecting with nature and your loved ones. We are offering a space to do this in.

A large fire pit, a beautiful pond, set aside a flowing river with an abundance of wildlife all create a uniquely relaxing experience.

Guests are encouraged to bring binoculars to spot our resident Kingfishers, Deer in the morning (if you’re an early riser) and perhaps Bob the Badger on the lane to the village pub (10 minutes walk). We also have a confused Owl who hoots throughout the day. We are set between two nature reserves and there is an abundance of wildlife and birds about.

For those who enjoy fishing and have a rod licence (day licences available on line) you are welcome to fish from the River Bank. Pike, Chub and Dace are present and Barbel have also been spotted swimming past. There is a program of works being undertaken on the river by the Wild Trout Trust. The kids are also welcome to do some pond dipping in our pond under adult supervision.

Our front door opens directly onto the Trans Pennine Trail with lots of quiet and traffic in free sections for the little ones. We can even provide stabling for those who want to bring their Equine friends along.

Children are welcome to help feed our flock of Silkie and Frizzle chickens in the morning, pet the goats and feed the horses. Peanut the pony loves a good carrot or two as does her friends.

If you are very lucky, Kristoff the Cat may bless you with his presence.
